Tiger and Stricker struggled yesterday falling 7 and 6 which matched the largest rout in the history of the Presidents Cup. Zero birdies made for TW and Steve who were previously undefeated in their parings from recent years. Obviously the course of Royal Melbourne is a tough track for any professional golfer but the slopes and down hill puts throughout the course posed plenty of problem for Tiger and Stricker. They could not get anything going throughout the round and certainly a huge disappointment for the American Team.
Much speculation and controversy has been brought around Tiger and whether or not he should of even been a Captains pick for this years event by Fred Couples. If yesterday was any indication of the next few days to come, look out. Stricker said "We never got any momentum, any flow, anything. We never put any pressure on them." Tiger was forced to go at pins all day to get inside Scott's beautiful struck iron shots all day. This is clearly not the Tiger of old but now a days, is this what we have to expect for the rest of his career?
If so, I don't think I can seemingly watch Tiger Woods play golf anymore. Growing up watching him tear up the competition and basically put the PGA on his back. Now seeing him slowly dwindle from the spot light has been a hard for any golf advocate and TW supporter.
I have continued to support Tiger over the last year stating that I believe he will eventually come around and break the major record. But his play, coach change, caddie change, swing change and reconstructed knee has led me to believe that the best days of Tiger Woods could be behind him. However, I'll support him until the day he makes his final putt in his last major tournament.
