This Week in the NFL

Hello Everyone,

Another week is in the books in the NFL, most impressive thus far is Tom Brady.  Early favorite to repeat as the MVP, with combining for over nine-hundred yards passing in two games.  Also, Panthers rookie Quarterback and former Heisman winner, Cam Newton who has been absolutely on fire despite his three thrown interceptions in this weeks performance against the Packers.

Not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed with the Eagles performance defensively when Mike Vick went out with a concussion injury.  It looked like the Eagles were going to run away with that victory after the ten point lead but never count out Matt Ryan at home were has has compiled a host of final quarter comeback victories since coming onto the scene in Atlanta.

My fantasy team picked up this week, with Peyton Hills, Matt Ryan, Jahvid Best and Rob Gronkowski carrying the load for my team, scoring me over 200+ points in week two.  This all after a tough week one three point loss to Steve Cramer's "Tebow Knows" team.

Major injuries have struck the league with Kansas City star running back Jamaal Charles being deemed out for the year with a torn ACL.  How about Romo's gutsy performance in Dalls.  I'm still not a believer until he does something in the playoffs, but I give him credit for his great play in that game after suffering a cracked rib and punctured lung.  Many wondering when the doctors will release whether or not the status of Vick's concussion will put him in doubt for week three, but I expect him to be in there.

Anything else, i'll update this week.  Enjoy the day.

Good morning Guys

Sorry for my absence the last couple of days, but I hope everything is going well.  On the topic of Sport, the NFL kicked off this weekend during a heartfelt day in our country.  Obviously this day was 9/11, the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  Thankfully, everything went smoothly and there was no other terroristic acts that took place during the weekend.

I will continue to keep you guys posted on special olympic information in the coming days.

Gentile Sports Issue #2

Whats up guys.

At least its been a fast week so far, and the weekend is right around the corner.

For a look into Sports this week, the NFL Season kicks off with the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints tomorrow night.  Im looking forward to watching the game as I'm sure most of any sports fan is.  The Pack are four point favorites over the Saints tomorrow night, rightfully earned as they are the defending SB Champions.

As for the NHL, Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby met with the media along side General Manager Ray Shero and his two doctors.  Sidney was quoted saying he has thought about the consequences of this injury and as to whether he said it affected the whole idea of retirement, well it could in the long run but as for now, hes still going to keep working everyday to get better.  But he says he feels very "fortunate" to be were he is today.  Dont count on Sid to be packing up his locker any time soon, although the disappointment has seem to hit many Penguins fans in regards to whether or not he laces them up for training camp.  Remains to be seen.  Personally, I would rather see Sid sit out two years before ever considering retirement.  But for now, we will wait and see what goes on in the coming weeks and when we will see Crosby pack on the ice full time.

Enjoy your night, see you tomorrow in class.

Introduction

Good Morning,

My name is Patrick Gentile and you are currently reading my blog.   First off, Welcome.  I am a Junior Sport Management Major here at SRU.  I am from the South Hills in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, a small town called Brentwood.  Graduated in 2008 and played Golf, Baseball and Basketball throughout high school. I continued to pursue my golf career at Thiel College after graduation but it was short lived as I transfered to SRU the following year.  My major career goal is to be the General Manager of a Professional Sports team.  I am currently working on the Event Management team here at SRU for a practicum and just previously completed an internship (practicum) with an Athletic Director over the summer.  Every time I post on my blog I will leave with a little bit of inspiration with a quote of the day.   Enjoy the week, see you soon.
